Winterization

Winterization, storage preparation and spring commissioning.

Prepare the systems installed on your boat for storage or freezing conditions, then return it to service in spring.

Winterization and storage preparation

Winterization accounts for the water-containing systems actually installed on your boat — which can extend beyond the engine to plumbing, sanitation, livewells, generators and HVAC.

  • Fuel stabilization
  • Engine storage treatment
  • Engine oil and gear oil service
  • Cooling-system draining or antifreeze protection as specified
  • Freshwater plumbing winterization
  • Holding-tank winterization
  • Livewell and washdown winterization
  • Battery charging and storage preparation
  • Cover inspection and installation

Spring commissioning

  • Spring fluid and leak checks
  • Freshwater system flushing and sanitization
  • Battery reconnection and testing
  • Pump and electrical-system testing
  • Engine startup and operational verification

Winterization questions

Is winterization just for the engine?

No. It accounts for the water-containing systems installed on your boat, which can include plumbing, sanitation, livewells, generators and HVAC.

Does storage preparation mean you store boats?

Storage preparation and boat storage are separate. Storage preparation readies your boat's systems for storage. Boat storage is currently available at our Belton shop. Contact Interstate Marine to confirm space availability and storage arrangements.
